We are the Champions

Hello Upians!

Now, we can proudly say, " We are the Champions! ". Yes, we won the 2010 PCUAA Summerfest Championship. Kudos to our Sports Committee Chair, Sherwin Dimaculangan for leading our team to victory. To our players, job well done. Thank you!

I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the kitchen brigade led by Terry Chua, our "Taho Queen". Besides planning and preparing some of the dishes served , Terry drove all the way to Scarborough
Sunday morning to pick up 5 Baldes of Taho at 9am. We were able to feed not only UPians but all the other member schools who lined up to have the taste of Taho. So, if San Beda is known for their "ice cream", now UP will be remembered for our " taho". Not to be outdone is Emily Luna's "Butchi", a delicacy from Quezon made of sweet potato and flour formed into a ball, then deep fried. Emily and her assistants, Terry and Liza Villanueva fried the butchi on site. Thank you Liza for your help.Unfortunately, because of the rain, not all was able to sample the "butchi".

Hats off to VP Fred Gamboa who fried the Tilapia starting at 6:30am and many thanks to Omel Masalunga who besides doing all the signages and emceeing, also cleaned the Tilapia that Fred fried. Talking of division of labor!

Inspite of her busy schedule last weekend, Fanny Calucag prepared her famous guinatan and cassava cake. I was told that Fanny was cooking at 4am so it can be ready for Terry's pick up at 6:00 am. Many, many thanks Fanny! We missed you and we loved your cassava cake and guinatan. Let's not forget Diane Gamboa's cassava cake also. The Gamboa household was surely busy that early morning with all the frying and the baking.

A special Thank You also to Livy Camacho for our coffee, compliments of Mister Coffee. And for soliciting from "Something Sweet" an extra large pancit. Buti na lang, there was butter cookies from Theresa Lumanlan. This was breakfast for us early birds.

Let's not forget the "itlog na maalat" with matching kamatis and onions that was donated by Rose Tijam. Thanks Ate Rose!

Thank you to our restaurant friends for their donations; the famous and very in demand "Sisig" from Quiapo Quaipo c/o UPIAN Bob Asuncion,  1 tray each of Pancit from "Something Sweet" and "Halo Halo World".

The "piece de resistance" of the day is of course the traditional "Lechon" donated by Dr. Mario and Perla Andres. Maraming salamat po sa inyo!

Besides our donors in kind, I would like to acknowledge our CASH donors namely:

Thank you for your cash donations. As Pres Joez said, " We were lucky to have received donations in cash and in kind that made our group enjoy the afternoon without having to pay anything."

Thanks goes to our pop, water and ice donors; Pres JoeZ, MalouP, AliceH, RomyM, EsterT, VP FredG, SherwinD and LivyC.

Maraming salamat also to our registration ladies; LitaZ, EsterT, DianeG and GenaB.  Per their count, there were around 133 that registered. There could be more because some alumni went straight to the buffet line. Hindi na maka hintay!

And to our "Takal Brigade", thank you for serving our alumni and their families.

To Chyrell and Omel - PCUAA's Rey Reyes would like to thank you for doing a great job hosting. Now, he is asking if you both can host the Awards and Dinner dance on January 2012. Siyempre, yes, di ba?

To our videographer, Romy Herrera and Rene Sevilla, Thanks for covering the event. We are all looking forward to the pictures and video.

Thank you to everyone who made this SUMMERFEST another one to remember!!
