"Town hall Meeting - Taga Toronto Tayo – A Summary Portrait of the Filipinos in Canada, and the Case of UP Alumni" was sponsored by UPAA Toronto and Dr. Philip Kelly, Associate Professor, York University and held at FCT on Oct. 1, 2004.

At the meeting, Dr. Kelly presented the preliminary summary of the survey returns (including the responses submitted by one hundred UP alumni) regarding immigration experience in Canada. In conclusion, Dr. Kelly said "it is clear that some (Filipinos), including many UP alumni have achieved the dreams of the immigrant – status, wealth, security and so on. For many in the Filipino community as a whole, however, the immigration experience has been one of hardship and marginalization. This is also the case for some well-established UP alumni who came to Canada with the best credentials the Philippines can offer."
