There was no hoedown music or square dancing but UPAA Toronto’s Barn Dance 2006  was an unqualified success.  Over 260 UPians and guests in their skinny jeans and western style outfits indulged in ballroom and line dancing at the Bayview Hill Community Center in Richmond Hill on November 3, 2006, Ontario.  President Bay Bernabe welcomed the biggest number of event attendees on record and commended Theresa Lumanlan and her team for pulling off a tremendously successful event.  Noel Cruz, incoming 2007 president, did the invocation.  This was followed by a sumptuous buffet prepared by Chef George. The dance floor was busy all night to music from DJ Ron Carpio of Florence Sounds.  Homegrown UP talents Gena Baldivia, Chyrell Samson and friend Rodney delighted the audience with their singing, and Linda Etzkorn and her troupe presented special Hawaiian dances for the evening’s entertainment. Part of the event’s extravaganza included door prizes galore, a 50/50 draw, and ‘guess the number of jelly beans game.’  Linda and Bill Etzkorn provided prizes, as did the UPAA Council members who also put in their 110% efforts.  Emcee for the evening was Livvy Camacho.
