We want to win the roving trophy

UPAA Toronto members, families and friends are excitedly planning for the forthcoming SUMMERFEST 2007 on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at  the Mississauga  Valley Community Centre Park - 1275 Mississauga Valley Road. It's at the SW quadrant of Highway 10 and Burthampton. The day long family event runs  from 9AM to 7PM.

UPAA is ROARING  to win the major trophy that we can hold close to our hearts for a whole year, hopefully, for more, if we don't let it go next year! Sweet revenge since it has evaded us for such a long time. WE HAVE NOT WON IT YET, SO IT'S  TIME TO WIN IT NOW . UP Alumni Ass'n is at its peak on its 30th anniversary this year! And next year, UP is 100 years old.

Fourteen (14) universities/colleges alumni associations -  UP, Ateneo, La Salle, UST, UE, St. Scholastica, Mapua, FEU, CEU, PUP, CPU, San Beda, Adamson and Letran  are coming, and competing in the games and sports!. This is great fun!

Prez  Noel and Agnes Cruz, past prez Bay and Daisy Bernabe and others will wake up at 6AM  to hang the UPAA banner and signs in the right places . Bay will man the table for the UPAA  t-shirts (order from him first, then pay in the Park, folks. We have limited quantity so order now)

Dr. Mario Andres, as usual, will donate a huge lechon!   Our  UPAA medics and dentists are just waiting for us to ask them to provide  the catered sumptuous buffet again (thank you, doctors).  And of course, Theresa Lumanlan, our Food Committee Chair is planning a special picnic fare.  Thanks Theresa!

The Council will provide drinking water and pop, and some people will bring watermelons, fruits, chicherias,  etc. Not a bad idea if you bring some, too.  We can also dig in at other groups' loaded tables as we invite them to come to ours, too. Bay said there has always been a good interaction with all other alumni from other schools. That's the idea, really, to meet with others.

There will be fun games for children and adults before lunch time with special numbers, dance numbers, etc - and we will to sing our battle hymn "PUSH ON , YOUPEE''  on top of our voices! We have lunch, and then, the sports events from  around  1:30 to 5:00 PM. Then we have the awards ceremony!

We have: Plank Race, Tug-of-War, Sack Race ( Mixed, Ladies', Men's) and Volleyball. ( Pssst: Our 5 -year record is rather dismal. The best finish was third, and Bay said it might have been in the first year of Summerfest. Let's strategize so we get the trophy. SASALI AKO SA SACK RACE!  Sali tayong lahat!)

Our school is one of the largest groups and we topped everyone in number last year! So we have to top the games and sports, too, folks! DAPAT lang!

Plan to car pool . Wear summer glasses, hats and sunscreen. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Have plenty of water. Bring your best smiles and the inimitable UP Spirit!! Come and join us.
