UPAA 2003 General Membership Meeting

TheUniversity of the Philippines Alumni Association, Toronto held a general membership meeting
on Sunday, May 25, 2003, at the Filipino Center, Toronto on 597 Parliament Street.

Guest speaker was Vice-Consul Edgar B. Badajos, UP Law, Class 91, who talked about the recently enacted Overseas Absentee Voting Law, R.A. 4189.  This law allows Filipinos who reside abroad to participate in electing candidates to national office, including that of the next Philippine president. This session was part of the UPAA’s community service program designed to keep alumni members informed and engaged.   Members and guests participated in the question and answer session after the Consul’s speech.

The reunion was also an occasion to renew acquiantances and to learn about the upcoming evetns and
initiatives of the UPAA.  President Bay Bernabe exhorted everyone to 

“get involved and KEEP THE UP SPIRIT ALIVE!”
