Jamming Fundraiser for Typhoon 'Ondoy' Victims
Relief fund now stands at $12,315.28 (donations and pledges), thanks to the COLLECTIVE efforts of UPAA together with its PARTNER ASSOCIATIONS, and the many volunteers, families and friends.
At the same time, we have remitted our first installment of $7,500 to ShareLife, c/o Mr. Arthur Peters, its Executive Director, during the Oct. 9-Jamming event.
Those present that evening also witnessed San Beda College Alumni Association turn over its generous donation of $2,191.
Friday night’s fundraiser was definitely a success--our heartfelt thanks to everyone who made this possible! Door collections reached $2,730 (or 182 guests at $15 each) with the help of our co-organizers Kalayaan Cultural Community Centre (KCCC), College of Holy Spirit (CHS) Alumni Association and Philippine Artists’ Group (PAG). We also raised $528 from raffling off over $1,100-worth of high-end merchandise from Umbra, c/o Ms. Mahalia Parcero.
Expenses were enormously minimized by food donations from Barrio Fiesta, Best Bakery, Casa Manila, Jesse Jr., Kapitbahay, Marcy's, Pinoy’s Best, Port Union Bakery, Quiapo-Quiapo, Remely's and Something Sweet 4 U.
We thank our supporters, donors, and pledgers. Special thanks to another alumni association who has joined fellow alumni schools CHS, SBC, UST in supporting us with their generous donation both from CPUAA and also from some of its alumni members. Special thanks to Edwin Arroz, outgoing President and Josie Dayao, incoming President. And of course very special thanks to Ateneo's Boy Reyes, PCUAA President for continually sending our updates to PCUAA member school leads.
It was the team of Theresa Lumanlan, Livvy Camacho, Marilou Parcero, Joe Zagala, Fred Gamboa, Gena Baldivia, JP Petines, Jess Perucho, Elvie Tan (CHS). and Evelyn Laraya (KCCC) that was responsible for this.
We are grateful for the overwhelming response and outpouring of generosity. Nevertheless, we continue to reach out to those who may not have had the opportunity to donate yet. Please keep spreading the word and directing people to http://www.joyfulchristians.com/chs/ondoy/ for updates and to learn of the different ways donations can be sent, including online.
Thank you once again and may you all have a blessed thanksgiving.
Gena Baldivia and JP Petines
