Career Development Seminar "Getting the Right Job" reached its completion
Your Career Development Group is proud to announce the completion of the first CD Seminar series amply called Getting the Right Job.
It was what a gruelling 7-week session where the participants got a dose of tips and info on various subjects ranging from rebranding, resume preparation and interview techniques. They also got an over all picture of the current market place vis-à-vis the minorities who have come to Canada with the dream of a fresh start in their careers.
Allow us to share some of the comments from the participants themselves –
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the learning experiences, insights, suggestions and the chance to connect with fellow alumni.
Kudos to UPAA for the all hard work organizing and faciliating these workshops.
Cheers,
Doreen Cortez"
"Hi, everyone! I wish to extend the same sentiments as Doreen. To my "batchmates", I wish you all the best!
Thank you UPAA!
Agnes Monica Rosali"
"To all UPAA team who spent a lot of time and effort in organizing the 7-session workshop, MARAMING SALAMAT SA INYONG LAHAT!
As most of you are aware, I am now back in the workplace with Global Payments with the New Business Sales Team. In as much as I wanted to thank each of the staff personally last Saturday for their support, I was hampered with my allergies. So HATS OFF TO UPAA!
Please feel free to call me for any support that I may share with the next batch!
Cheers!
Martin Lagman"
This early we are pleased to share a positive note among the attendees. Four of the eleven participants have landed jobs in their respective fields and a fifth one is waiting for a job offer.
More importantly there is great possibility we may soon see the CD seminar series on a continuing basis thanks to Scotia Bank. The banking institution has expressed interest to partner with UPAA Toronto on future seminars by providing a permanent training venue as well as printing of the course materials for free. The CD Group is hammering out a proposal for submission to the bank next week.
At this point, we like to acknowledge, on behalf of Pres Joe Zagala and the Council Officers and Members, the invaluable contribution of the following people who have worked so hard and pulled together to make this project a reality and to see its fruition:
- Marie Garingalao & Alice Herrera - Co-Chairs
- Vince Rallon
- Doug Alinea
- Mayrose Salvador
- Gena Baldivia
- Chris Vasquez – Advisor
And as culmination to this undertaking a Pub Night is being planned for the Participants to mingle with invited Recruiters and Job Hunters and give them the opportunity to apply what they learned from the seminar. The Resource Speakers, the Core Team and invited guests will also be in attendance.
